Car accident

I got in a car accident on the way home from returning a movie rental. (That'll teach me to return those!) Typical story, it was raining and the line of cars was backed up farther than I thought. I hit the brakes, but the car didn't stop in time. I honked the horn, but there was nowhere for the car in front of me to go. I rear-ended some innocent person who was stopped at a red light.

Both vehicles are drive-able and no one is hurt. I suppose I should be grateful. I don't think I was wearing a seatbelt, but no one asked. The officer was really nice and processed the report as quickly as possible.

Now that I will have to pay for the citation and the deductible on my insurance, I realize how tightly I have been budgeting myself. I probably could still afford my Galápagos trip, but only if there are no more unforseen financial surprises. What is the likelihood of that?

I will be OK. I can afford this accident. I can afford some lesser trips in the meantime and keep saving one more year for the Galápagos. I still have Moab, Utah (Arches National Park and others), New York, and a visit to see shrijani wherever she lands. I also could go to Portland for an aikido conference in June. I am trying to see the good in this.

Me, too, thanks! Everyone seems to hit deer. I almost would rather that have happened. Then it wouldn't have been my fault!

I hate really minor car wrecks. They're really minor but they still have to be processed and stuff, my first car wreck was minor, but I cried none the less.

I have been in, um, several car wrecks. I never have cried. Some of them have been car-totalled affairs. I am rather annoyed by this one, but I should have had it ages ago. Just the way I have been lately, I guess.

How much visible damage is there to the truck? Are you certain it is okay to drive?

I rear-ended a large, white van in the Integra, but it was D's DUI that finally killed it.
