Island of the birds (Galápagos Day 3)
Jul. 23rd, 2006 10:22 pmDay three was Genovesa, which I liked to call "Bird Island." We sailed north across the equator, then south across it again. That entitles me to some kind of mariner celebration, but it may involve a tattoo or a piercing, neither of which I am willing to get to commemorate the event.

I love all kinds of animals, and these birds are unique and beautiful. I was really fond of the sea lions and iguanas, but it was great to get to see these birds in their natural habitat undisturbed by our presence. On one beach, there were so many birds flying around, it seemed like the Hitchcock movie. They were quite harmless, but it was extremely important to wear a hat!
