It was all over the news today about how Shawnee Mission School District had to cut 37 teaching jobs. The cuts did NOT affect me!!!! I have a lot of district seniority, for one. Also, Spanish enrollment is still strong.

These teachers were let go, not reassigned like has happened to me twice. When they go to Reduction in Force, it is all based on seniority. There have been several Spanish teachers in the district hired after me. This is the first time in the history of the district that they have had to cut teachers.

I do feel bad for those who were let go, but I am also incredibly relieved not to have to go through job stress again this year.

This kind of environment may not make it the best time to buy a house. If I wait for the situation to be perfect, though, I may never do it. I am proceeding with the purchase.
