Every night for the last week or two, I have been having "school dreams."  I get them every year towards the end of summer.  They usually involve me teaching (or rather trying to teach) a class where everything goes wrong.  I get mad or frustrated, but generally keep my cool as I gradually come to accept the fact that we will get nothing done that day.  I keep trying different things to bring them back.  Then I wake up relieved that it was only a dream.  Usually current or former students make up my classes, so the situations seem very real.

I am sure the dreams are more frequent and intense this year because I am starting at a new school and I am not sure how I will go over with the kids.  I am trying to let go of expectations and just wait to see what happens.  I am hoping the dreams I am having will give me a heads up as to the worst-case scenario and I will be able to move on from there.

Starting in a new place is making me nervous.  I guess that is to be expected.  I am sure it happened when I started at my other schools, but I have forgotten all about it.  Now I am documenting in case it happens again.  Hopefully, I will be able to look back at this and laugh because of how great everything will be going!
