Intelligence is not a finite quantity. In fact, I would go so far as to say there is no quantifying it in the first place. An aspect of intelligence that has long been overlooked is the emotional aspect. Ability and potential mean very little. In fact, they are dormant unless there is some inclination to act on them. Inclination, the feeling of being drawn to something is an important motivator. It draws me to the Galápagos, it draws me to Cuba, but I digress...
We must also value our gifts in order to develop them. How many of us are skilled in the arts but do nothing with it because we feel the talent is of no "value."
We have all sold out somewhere along the line. We decided we preferred to eat rather than starve, that we liked having a place to live, maybe even a nice place to live. These things take money. We sought to earn money as a means to our dreams and got caught up in the earning money part. It happens.
Meanwhile, I ask myself, "What is my gift?" What would give me the most satisfaction to do? I am good at defining what I don't want, but not so good at defining what I do want.
