I think the teacher I share a classroom with called me a bitch. He was so subtle about it, that it took me hours to figure out what he meant. I turned away some of his students who wanted to interrupt my class while he was in the room so they could pick up their baseball eligibility cards. I don't like it when people who have no business with me or my students interrupt my class.
So later this teacher said something like, "I am disappointed that people seem to be so mean today." I wasn't even in a bad mood and had no idea what he was talking about. I said "What people?" He said everyone. I said, "It must be the ions in the atmosphere. I feel fine."
The conversation took place while my students were coming back in from lunch. It took until after school for me to connect what he said with the way I treated his athletes. I could be wrong, but why else would he say something like that to me? Maybe he was having a bad day. What I don't get is why he would be so vague and general when he has a problem with me?
I rarely have run-ins with coworkers. People tend to like me. This kind of thing stays with me, though. I sent him an e-mail apologizing for being mean and promising to be nice in the future if he will try to dissuade people from interrupting my classes. Sorry about this post. I just had to get it off my chest before bedtime.
