Salmonella Stew, Anyone?
Mar. 28th, 2011 06:04 pmI was being so good, I thought. I couldn't wait to get home and try my spicy chicken soup. I chopped all the ingredients last night and left them in the refrigerator so I could dump everything in the crock pot before work this morning and come home to a delightful meal. I put in all the ingredients, turned the crock pot to low, and went to work. It was supposed to be awesome.
Unfortunately, I discovered that I had forgotten to plug in the damn crock pot. Raw chicken sitting all day in a covered pot with liquids, I don't think so... I first thought that I would simply cook it on high and kill the bacteria, but there could be toxins that are unaffected by heat. While I hate wasting the food, I would rather do that than spend the rest of the week hugging the toilet. I have to go back to the store tonight to buy some things that I forgot, anyway. Might as well chuck the Salmonella Stew and try again tomorrow. I am so glad tomorrow is trash day.
"If in doubt, throw it out." Damn!
Tomorrow I will come home to a delightful meal.
