Out of the Routine
Mar. 20th, 2011 08:40 pmTomorrow I go back to work after my Spring Break. I was just starting to get into Vacation Mode. No schedule, no routine, just go with the flow. I never could have predicted a week ago what happened this week. Well, I might have predicted some of it. I watched Clatterford: Season 1, a couple of movies, and read a couple of books. I got my mountain bike fixed and spent some time today riding it. I got my truck running (just needed a new battery). I never would have imagined myself with 2 cats just a week ago.
I really enjoyed the freedom to go wherever circumstances directed me. I really appreciated unstructured time free of appointments and most of my obligations. I am going to try to be more open about my "directions" when I go back to work tomorrow. I think teaching teenagers in the springtime requires it, anyway. Tomorrow we have Teacher In-Service (no students). One of the workshops is suicide prevention. Good times!
Update on the cats: They are now out from under my bed and are starting to show interest in food. The boy (who I thought would be a great mouser) is quite content to hang out on my lap while I read. The girl, on the other hand, is on mouse watch in my garage. She hardly leaves the corner where I identified the heaviest mousy activity. She will get her mouse, I am sure. If not, the poor little things will all relocate to some other garage! Oh yeah, she is sweet, too, but for shorter periods of time. She's a busy gal!
What are their names? I wanted to get to know them so they would tell me their names. So far, they haven't revealed them to me. Their first vet appointment is Tuesday, and I would like to have names for their records.
