Happy news, for a change

My brother called. He and his girlfriend were filling out the Baby Book and he needed to know stuff like birthdays and middle names. Why are the women the repositories for such information? You know it is true!

Girlfriend is doing fine. My niece or nephew was due on October 2nd, but they moved the date back to let the kid bake a little longer. My mom is thrilled about becoming a grandmother. I am mostly immune to babies and their cuteness, but maybe one that is related to me will be different. I am looking forward to meeting the child.

This offsets other crappy news I have had today by a long shot!

Leaving the entry with random thoughts: I am taking up drinking as a hobby (as opposed to a career?). I only get two beers, but they will be the finest imports or microbrews. I am planning some vacations to tour breweries in other states... I suppose I don't have a significant other because I don't need one. I do quite nicely on my own. It is a comforting, actually liberating thought, though it can be a sad one at times. I still really like my job, though the students annoyed me today. Life makes sense at school.
