It all started after teaching the aikido kids' class, which went great, by the way. I was subbing for the normal instructor and for some reason, the kids behave for me.

I was awakened from an unintentional nap by a call from a friend who wanted to go biking. I took him on my favorite ride to Lakeview Lake. We had a great ride. It was awesome to get to share the nature and the scenery with someone else for a change! Then we went to a cookout with some friends of his. Wow! These were good-looking, intelligent people who were fun to talk to...

I got home and finally, after months away, picked up my guitar. I didn't play anything original, just a bunch of Melissa Etheridge songs. She writes a lot of the songs that I would have if I ever got around to it. They are from the heart, easy to play, and have a Kansas vibe to them since she is from Leavenworth.

I shy away from playing guitar because I know I will never become this great virtuoso. Tonight, it didn't matter, I just picked the thing up and played the hell out of it. I never really forgot how to play. My style is all about the right hand (the one that strums or picks). I definitely need to sharpen my chops, but I can still play. Will I write some songs? That remains to be seen, but I do like playing and singing for anyone with the patience to listen.
