Last Day Off

Technically, that would be Sunday, but today is the last weekday I will not have to work (unless we get a snow day) in quite some time. Actually, until Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. I spent time today working on the lessons and new seating charts for Monday. We are going to hit the ground running! I am sure the kids will love it...
Today I washed the car and then got Baby's First Oil Change. Someone a long time ago pointed out that it is a kind thing to do to give the oil change guys a nice, clean car to lean up against while they are working.
Then I took my beloved canine niece
tiri_mu for another walk. I think that's the 3rd or 4th time this break. I hope to do so again this weekend, maybe even twice. We both enjoy the time outside and the exercise!
Tonight will be aikido and then maybe going out after. I really enjoyed our traditional New Year's calligraphy. We spend an hour or 2 at the dojo writing Japanese New Year's sayings in kanji using brushes and ink. I used to practice brush calligraphy in weekly lessons from Sensei, but I have gotten really rusty. It is a very meditative practice. It teaches me use of space, balance, and patience. I think I may get some ink and resume the practice on my own. Like I will have the time for that, but who knows? If it is something I value, I will do it.
