Three generations of alcohol consumption

My maternal grandparents enjoyed a beverage known as a Highball, which consisted of Canadian whiskey and ginger ale. In Kansas, that drink is called a Horsefeather, and it is rye whiskey and ginger ale. My parents enjoy scotch, and my aunt and uncle drink beer and fashionable drinks. I had a Horsefeather tonight, and it was damn good!
I am participting in a time-honored tradition. I come from a long line of lushes. Some of us become alcoholics and some of us don't. We are mostly happy drunks. Here's to Grandpa, who liked to tie one on after work. Here's to my uncle, who likes beer and never let it interfere with his life. Here's to my brother who is probably the biggest alcoholic and never touches anything stronger than beer. Here's to me. I walk the line. I drink often, but seldom to excess. I describe myself as a frequent, moderate drinker.

Date: 2005-07-31 11:39 am (UTC)I want to try a horsefeather! My grandmother used to say "horsefeathers" and "poppycock" as subs for "BULLSHIT" and that makes me want to drink one all the more.
