Planted the Bulbs

Over that last couple of weeks I put in about 50-60 of the flower bulbs my mom gave me. I lost count. I doubt they will all grow. Like so many other times in my life, I jumped in blindly. I poked holes in the ground, dropped in the bulbs and filled the holes with topsoil or dirt that used to be in the hole. Some I probably planted too deep, others too shallow. Then there is the issue of those poor plants having to make it up to through the clay soil. Maybe I will get a few flowers. Nothing to do now but wait for Spring. In 4-5 months, I may have many beautiful flowers. Or not. At least I have another reason to look forward to Spring.
This summer now that I know I have a house and a yard, I will plan my gardening more carefully. The former owner did a great job of planting lovely flowers in front of the house, so I will have potted plants, some hanging baskets, maybe even a vegetable or herb garden. The thing is, I still don't cook often so much of my produce will probably go to waste. I do love plants, though. Also, I want some trees! I want a lovely Japanese maple or two out front. I haven't the first clue how to go about planting trees. There is much to learn!
