One Dry Eye
Feb. 8th, 2011 09:57 pmYesterday morning I woke with a scratchy pain in my right eye. It felt like there was something in it. I turned onto my back and let it water for about an hour, not daring to touch it, until it was time to get up. I went through all I would have to do in order to miss school that day and decided it wasn't worth it. I drove to work with one blurry eye and one good eye. I took some Aleve and at least it didn't hurt any more.
I visited the school nurse and she put some eye drops in. I must say I felt much better after that, but it is hard to read with one blurry eye. Last night I went and bought some eye drops, the last "dry eye' bottle on the shelf. Something must be up with this. I researched dry eyes and found it to be a fairly common ailment this time of year.
I am writing this now to document the problem. It's a recurring one with me, always the same eye. Last spring I rubbed the eye in my sleep and scratched the hell out of my cornea, which required me to get to the doctor. I remember the excruciating pain and the frightening drive. I left there with antibiotic drops and pain pills. Now it's the same eye. The left one is fine, crystal clear. Folks are telling me to see the doctor again. Today is better, though. Nothing hurts, but the eye is still blurry. Reading is right out, but I can watch tv and skim stuff on the computer.
I think I'll give it another day and see if there is any improvement. I have never had any vision troubles, so this is rather disconcerting.
