Made it! I biked the Lizard!
Jul. 15th, 2007 01:48 pmI decided to shake off my disappointment that my friend backed out by having a GREAT ride! I did, too. I spent 4 hours on the bike and about 1 hour at the SAGs (rest stops for those who don't ride).
The ride turned out to be 60 miles. I can usually do the first 40-50 miles pretty easily, but the last leg of the trip really hurts. I want to return in triumph rather than hobbling in. I guess it's better than being carried...
The people were great, the SAGs were great. They had good food and Gatorade powder. Not all rides provide the Gatorade, but it makes a difference when biking in the Kansas sun in July. I think it prevents muscle cramps.
Now I am going to drive 100 miles to Warrensburg, Missouri to visit my brother and his "wife." She is giving birth to their second child even as I type this. Bike 60 miles and become and aunt for the 2nd time. Sounds like a good day.
I don't know when I will get my laundry done. I have my first day of the final Baker University class tomorrow.
