This is the part of the school year when we are all counting days. I can tell you how many school days there are until summer, but then I remember that my life is now. We are all going through the motions- this lesson, this assignment, this test- until summer when we can do whatever we want for 10 weeks. Will I travel? Take classes? Write a novel? Ride my bike? Drink beer and goof off?

All of that is a month away. My life is now. I have been making decisions based on what I hope to do in summer of 2008! I want to travel South America with some teacher friends and also go back to Japan. None of this is certain, though. Hell, where will any of us be in 2008? I don't even know if I will be alive then. Sure, past performance might lead me to believe that I might be around in a year, but we can never know. Don't get me wrong. I am all for planning for the future, but really it is only something that exists in my mind.

I am thinking about tomorrow with a mixture of joy and dread. I am happy that it is Friday but I don't want to work. Bleh.
