Relaxing morning hanging out with the pets

I love to be able to sleep in (until 8:00 or 9:00), drink my coffee while catching up on lj and even posting some pictures (usually of my pets). Right now it looks beautiful and sunny, but it is only 40 degrees. I need 50's or 60's to go biking. I am fussy like that.

I am snake-sitting for shrijani, so I thought I would post a couple of pics of Suki in case her Momma misses her. Snakes require almost no care. This one eats only once a week, so I just turn her day lamp on and off and keep the water full.

Brilliant!

(Yes, I am quoting the old guys in the Guinness ads.) I went this afternoon and bought some Guinness. I drank one (why do I forget this stuff is delicious nectar of the gods?). I felt much better after. I am on vacation, so I can drink in the afternoon.

Then I rode my bike to the gym and lifted weights. Biking to the gym eliminates the need for me to use the hated cardio machines. I could focus on weightlifting, where my heart is. Weird that I like weights, but I feel like I am actually "good" at lifting weights. I don't know that it takes any special skill, but my body responds well to resistance training. I am compact in size and better at quick, explosive movement. I am not built so much for endurance, though I do train to improve that.

The gym scale gave me some happy news. It pisses me off that so much self-esteem is riding on that little number, but when I like the number, I am happy.

I also got a $150 rent credit for renewing my lease for next year, which I was going to do anyway. She said I could also get an "upgrade" to my apartment, like professional carpet cleaning, a new appliance, or mini-blinds. Everything works, but I am leaning towards the new appliance anyway. I don't like the idea of having to move everything to get the carpets cleaned, though they could use it!

Tonight is my night class. I would say this was a fairly productive day.
