Tonight's Advanced Aikido class was intense. Sensei had us resist each other with everything we had. The purpose was to help us find the correct way to throw someone, even if they resist. If you do it right, they go down like a sack of potatoes. If not, you get stuck and it hurts like hell! Well, I did it right, but getting there I had to do it wrong and it hurt like hell.

I actually had to sit out for a while because my wrists were throbbing. (A doctor last year diagnosed me with osteoarthritis caused by the wear and tear I put on them through martial arts.) I didn't like having to stop, but if I get smart about when to lay off, I should be able to continue training for life. Our head instructor is 74 years old.

It really boosts the confidence when big strong guys try to stop your throw and they can't.

In other news, I am really tired from preparing for the end of the semester and Final Exams next week. After Wednesday, I get a 2-week vacation! I am ready. My Secret Santa got me M&Ms and M&M Minis to get me through this cold snap we are supposed to have this weekend. (I filled out my info sheet and answered M&Ms to almost every question!)
