Curriculum Coach
Jun. 1st, 2011 05:22 pmOur World Languages Resource Specialist got the district to pay us to meet the last two days to collaborate on teaching strategies and plan for next year. Basically, we got paid to do what we would have had to do over the summer anyway!
He asked me if I would be the Curriculum Coach for reassigned Spanish teachers this coming school year. My job is to meet with Spanish teachers who have been transferred to other buildings and are teaching a level they never taught before. So far, only one teacher fits that description and she's the one who got transferred away from our building.
It's not really a promotion, but it's a title. I do get paid the hourly extra-duty rate for meeting with her and talking about teaching Spanish 2. One of the things we do in our district to help new teachers is to give them the first two weeks of lesson plans all ready to go. There's enough to deal with getting acclimated to a new building and the pre-made lessons give them one less thing to worry about. So I will be revising the lesson plans that have already been uploaded to the site. If I log the time that I spend doing that, I will be paid extra to do what I have to do for myself. Not a bad deal.
It's not likely that the newly-transferred teacher will need much of my help, but I sure felt honored to be asked!
