Parent-Teacher Conferences

Tonight was the end of Week Six of school this year and we had Parent-Teacher Conferences.  I keep hearing about over-involved busybody parents at my new school.  As I suspected, I didn't have any problems tonight at conferences.  Most of the time, we just see the parents of the kids who are doing well.  Do you see the connection?  Parents who care about how their kids do at school tend to have kids who care how they do at school!

I survived the evening of talking even though I am having wicked allergy issues.  I am suffering from post-nasal drip and congestion that is driving me truly mad.  Something bloomed or died this week that is just killing me.  I didn't have any problem until this Tuesday.  At first I thought I was sick, but now I know better.  I almost would rather be sick because then I would have the promise of an end to the symptoms soon enough.  With allergies, who knows when they will go away?

Here's the deal.  Claritin-doesn't work at all.  I am using Sudafed right now but it only barely contains the symptoms, for a while.  12-hour decongestants dry me out and make my scalp tingle.  I think they are worse than the malady.  What can I take and still survive intact?  I am hoping it will only last a week or two.  I am fully willing to pop some pills to get me through.  It is better than cutting off my head!

May I recommend NMT sessions with Mikell Adams?

You know how I feel about crazy woo-woo medicine stuff, but let me tell you, that NMT shit worked on me good. I've taken my allergy medicine just twice since spring. And one time was during the three-day Labor Day weekend at faire--it turned out it was a nasty cold, not allergies anyway.

But seriously, give Mikell and NMT a try. It only took two or three sessions for me to tell a difference. I think I went weekly for maybe three months before I was basically over it. I've gone for two "booster shots" since.

This sounds interesting, but it also sounds like a treatment that doesn't take insurance. May I ask how much the sessions cost?

Actually, my insurance (Blue Cross of Kansas) covered 30%! I wound up paying about $30 per visit. Totally worth it for me. I'd rather pay that for something that works than $10 a visit for something that doesn't.
