This time tomorrow...
This icon is a good example of an aikido technque we may be practicing for 4 days in Las Vegas. Aikido is a martial art that takes much more energy as the attacker than as the defender. I love being the attacker so much because I get to fly! I enjoy being able to explore the limits of what my body can do. Many times, I am not sure until I do it. There is also a relationship between the attacker and defender (uke and nage) that involves mutual trust and respect. The connection is deep and very meaningful, but I don't know if any will understand unless they have experienced it. Dancers will get it, though, because life is a dance and so is aikido.
I leave tomorrow afternoon, but I am still not sure the exact time. I am going with my traveling roommate to and from the airport so I will not have to cry in the baggage claim upon my return thinking no one is coming to get me. I love bonding with traveling companions, chatting during those airport waits or in-flight, getting totally bombed at the bars because neither has to drive. Vacation is such fun. I can hardly wait!
I bought a new journal and new clothes and I have a new memory card for the camera. I am all set! I have been singing the hell out of my Spanish songs to perform at the banquet Saturday. I hope I don't get any flack carrying a guitar on the plane. I am so ready. I cleaned my apartment top to bottom so I don't have to come home to filth.
I keep failing to mention that the founder of our style's son, Deputy President of Ki-Aikido International, will be testing me on Saturday afternoon. Frankly, I am more nervous about the singing than the test!
