Scotch Ales

I purchased three this evening, but I suspect that tonight I will only get to two of them.
McEwan's Scotch Ale: 8% alcohol. It really kicked my ass. A dark amber color with a healthy head. Scotch Ales have a "complex" flavor. It is sweet. It is also bitter. shrijani might find it a bit sweet. The alcohol content is a nice reward, though.
Belhaven Scottish Ale: Alcohol content not specified. Same color. I think Shri would like this better than the other. It is more malty. Not as sweet.
Both of these beers cost $9.75 for a six-pack. They are not at all cheap. They don't have the "spark" that Trois Pistoles has, but at the same time they are more gentle and complex. It's a mood thing. Damn! I love beer! I can choose a beer for any occasion.
