Moving in 12 hours

This time tomorrow, I will be at my new home.  No more waiting, postponing.  I will do this when...  It will then be time to do...  Time to figure out where my stuff goes, time to buy furniture.  Time to buy plants and cool stuff for the yard.  I suspect the movers will get my stuff loaded and unloaded with astonishing efficiency.  I just hope I am ready for them.  The key to a successful move, they say, is being ready for the movers when they arrive.  I have had a month to pack.  I think I am ready.

I will not have internet (other than my iPhone) until Thursday.  I don't think it will stop me from updating or reading if I want to.

Now, did I put that last Netflix movie in the mail or is it in a box somewhere?  I am so glad they inform me when they receive their returns.

Moved In (almost)

The move went well.  I felt bad for the movers working so hard and doing all that heavy lifting while I just basically wandered around, tried to look busy, and answered questions about where things went.  Then again, I paid good money for them to do all the hard work.  I shouldn't feel bad...  Yet I still do, a little.

I got the guys to deposit my ancient sofa-sleeper, dresser, and entertainment center by the dumpster instead of on the truck.  I was pleased to find out that only a couple hours later they had been adopted!   That makes me feel good.  Nothing wrong with the entertainment center, it was just cheap and too big.  The dresser had a broken drawer and was just ugly.  The couch, well, I didn't think even charities would take it.  After almost 25 years of use, it was done!

I am now sitting on the floor at the old place.  I came back for my food, booze, and other items the movers wouldn't handle.  Plus, I still have internet here until tomorrow.  An evening with no cable and no internet.  I might just have to read a book!  Not like there isn't plenty to do.  I still must unpack...  Then I must buy new furniture!  Oh yeah, and lawn stuff.  I'll get there.

I really love, LOVE the new place.  I had a great moment on my patio sitting in the shade listening to the quiet neighborhood.
