Creative focus, or lack thereof

I have not been too creative with my teaching these days. I just throw something together and borrow ideas from other teachers. I haven't really created any of my own cool ideas this year. Last year I did a few, I guess.

I think I am busy, tired, or otherwise occupied. [livejournal.com profile] philrancid wrote something to that effect in his journal. He feels a a great amount of energy but it has too many possible directions to be able to focus. I have that, too, in a way. I am working out, practicing and teaching aikido, taking education classes, reading, keeping up with LJ, and waiting for days warm enough for biking. I do have many other directions to focus my energy. I also want to pay attention to editing the novel, writing new things, or writing some more songs.

Maybe I just need to pick one thing and do it. I have set my mind on running a 5K in April. For most of my life I have hated running, but for some reason right now it is what I want.

Of all the places to focus my energy, I haven't yet decided to focus on teaching Spanish. That should tell me something. My livelihood is important, don't get me wrong, but I am so much more than what I do for a paycheck!

It interests me to note that I should be grading the tests I brought home, but I am writing this instead.
